We are The Lar Group, we are made up of LAR Housing Trust, a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Scottish Charity Number SC044825) and its subsidiaries, Lar Projects Limited (SC637892) and Lar Operations CIC (SC591592).  In this document we’ll refer to ourselves as Lar, We Us or Our.

Personal Data

This notice sets out what we will do with your personal data and how we will keep it safe.  Your personal data is information which can be used to identify you, it can be obvious data such as names and addresses but it can also be other less obvious things such as online identifiers or location data.

We respect and value the privacy of everyone who we interact with.  That includes users of our websites, those we interact with on social media, organisations that we work with, tenants who have homes with Lar and others.  We will use personal data only in the ways set out in this privacy notice and in ways that are consistent with data protection law (the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and the EU GDPR) .  When we are using your personal data we are acting as what is called a data controller.

What personal data do we collect?

The only personal information we collect from you on this website is your e-mail address and other information which you give to us. 

Why do we collect it and our legal basis for doing so

We collect and use your personal data to:

  • Deliver our services and meet our legal responsibilities
  • Verify your identity where this is required
  • Contact you by post, email or telephone
  • Understand your needs 
  • Run our business on a day to day basis

We will use your personal data:

  1. where it is necessary, to comply with our legal obligations, and
  2. for our legitimate interests in running our business and interacting with you, when you have asked us to,  to best understand your needs

What will we do with your personal data and who will we share it with?

This information will be processed in accordance with, and will comply with data protection law. We may check some or all of the information you provide to us against third party databases to confirm that it is accurate. We do not sell this information to any third parties.

We may monitor usage of our website to enable us to update and tailor our website to the needs of visitors to our website. We may also keep a record of those links which are most regularly used, thus enabling us to provide the most helpful information to visitors.

We may share your information with our advisers, strategic partners, survey and research organisations and other individuals and organisations whom we use to perform functions on our behalf. Examples of these functions include data analysis and following up on your enquires (including by phone, e-mail or post). These parties have access to the personal information required in order to perform their functions but may not use it for any other purpose.

Any of your personal information held by LAR will not otherwise be disclosed to any third parties except with your consent, or as required or permitted by law or any regulatory body. 

How long will we keep your personal data for?

We’ll keep your personal data only for as long as it is necessary to do so.  Please contact us if you would like more information about our retention policies.

Where will we send your personal data?

Your information will be stored within the UK or EEA and will not be sent outwith that area unless we tell you.

How can you access your personal data?

If you’d like to know what data we hold about you, you can ask us for details and a copy of it.  This is known as a subject access request (SAR).  Such requests should be made in writing to info@larhousingtrust.co.uk and clearly marked as a SAR.  We will reply to your request in a way that is consistent with the ICO guidance. 

You have certain other rights under data protection law in relation to your data, (subject to some exceptions)  those are summarised as:

  • The right to be informed
  • The right to have access
  • The right to have your personal data rectified
  • The right to be forgotten
  • The right to restriction
  • The right to object to data processing
  • The right to data portability
  • Rights related to automated decision making and profiling
  • The right to withdraw consent
