KY11 8PL, Dunfermline (with the opportunity to work flexibly from home part-time.)

SALARY AND BENEFITS:              

£24,000 - £29,000 FTE depending on experience.

11% employer pension contribution.

34 days’ annual leave including public holidays (non-fixed days).

HOURS:                                        

5 days / 35 hours per week, typically 9am-5pm. Lar is a flexible organization, and it may be possible to accommodate part-time working or other flexible working patterns.

Lar has two subsidiary companies: Lar Projects Ltd which builds residential and commercial properties, and Lar Operations CIC which owns and manages commercial property alongside managing Lar’s residential portfolio.

This is an exciting time to be joining Lar as we have recently opened our latest commercial property units in Prestonpans, with our first café due to open in Glasgow in 2025.

Lar is now looking for an Accounts Assistant as we continue to expand our team, to be primarily based at Lar’s head office in Dunfermline. This role will form part of the head office function, reporting to the Finance Manager, and working closely with Head Office administrative functions, property management, maintenance and construction teams.

You will be an important part of the Lar Team, providing key support across finance and accounting activities which will include processing payments and receipts, recording invoices in Xero and maintaining accounting records through supporting the Finance Manager & Finance Director in monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.

1.      Role

Recording financial transactions on a day-to-day basis such as rent receipts and supplier payments on our electronic accounting and property management software.

 

  • Carrying out bank reconciliations on Xero.
  • Maintaining the fixed asset registers.
  • Reviewing debtors and creditors and assisting the Operations Team in managing tenants’ rent accounts, including overpayments and arrears.
  • Liaising with suppliers over invoices and payments.
  • Supporting with invoicing for commercial and factoring clients, arrears collections, production of quarterly and annual customer statements and service charge budget reconciliations.

2.      Person Specification

The candidate will be a motivated individual who:

  • Has experience in a financial / administrative role (housing industry is beneficial but not required – training and support will be given.)
  • Has experience in using IT-based accounting software and Microsoft excel.
  • Works well as part of a team and is enthusiastic and driven to provide a high level of service to customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • Embraces change and is willing to contribute to making improvements to their role and the finance and head office administrative functions.
